How to Walk the Walk

Uncategorized Dec 20, 2021

I’m sure you’re well ahead with your goal setting for 2022, thinking about what you’ll be getting from your career and how your life is going to look.

If you’re not, maybe we need to speak, but more of that later if its right for you.

It's all very well setting your goals and intentions, but its another thing making them happen. We discussed, in my last blog, how working out what you want from your whole life can help you make sure that your career supports that, but how do you know where to start? That first step often seems to be the most daunting before you’ve actually taken it.

Talking the first step

So how do you work all that out?

One way is to transport yourself forward to the point when you’ve achieved the goal and just imagine what your life is like then and how you are then. Take some time to get into it.

Once you’re in the zone, so to speak, look back at today and ask yourself what steps you took to get here (the point when you’ve achieved your goal).

  • What was the first thing you did?
  • What did you do next?
  • What other steps did you take?
  • What did you need to learn along the way?
  • Who helped you?

Answer those questions and you’ll be starting your action plan that will get you where you want to be. Now, commit to taking that first action today.

Once you've taken that first step, you're walking the walk to where you really want to be.

It’s like climbing a mountain. Take the first step and you’re on your way. Keep on taking steps and you will reach the top.
