Career Change

“I have discovered that I am quite amazing, strong and resilient. I can do anything I want to. The coaching has enabled me to apply strategies to manage certain situations that I previously would have found challenging. [This will help me to] explore opportunities with a ‘can do’ rather than ‘can’t do’ approach. This will enable me to grow, and continue to explore. In all aspects of my life, not just my career. I was in the redundancy phase so was alittle lost. The coaching helped me to examine the situation chunk by chunk. But not only this. The coaching helped me explore internally aspects about myself differently.”

Faiza Hussain, Feb 2016

“You have raised quite a few eye opening aspects for me to think about here? But, will keep my eyes open for the future. I think this has been very good value for money. As long as I am prepared to do my homework and not sit back in my armchair to all points or aspects made by you.”

Career Development

"Dave and I worked very successfully on my career guiding sessions and with excellent results! It not only helped me to get the job I wanted but also gave me new confidence and a new approach on how to tackle the job market and interviews. Even when I contacted Dave some time after with a query he was ready to help! I can highly recommend his superb work, it has helped me tremendously. Thank you Dave!"

Fran Linke, Sep 15

"Working with Dave over six sessions has been a hugely rewarding experience. At a time when I am striving to make changes in my career, Dave has opened my mind to numerous ideas and techniques that I had not considered previously. During this course I gained an appreciation of the value of networking; I completely rebuilt my CV; clarified my working values and contributions - a process that perfectly illustrated Dave's ability to help someone consider and expand on the aspects of work life that really matter to them. Dave has also assisted me with how I articulate my skills and what I want from my career. Dave has unlocked new ways for me to challenge myself and to continually re-evaluate my situation - as a result, I feel enormously empowered and much more confident in approaching my future than I had before. Finally, I would like to thank Dave for being very warm, accommodating and fantastic to work with. Thank you, Dave! "

Tom Dowding, Jul 15

“I have learnt to appreciate my contribution as an employee for the company I work for. I now have the ability to do or achieve anything I want to do with my life. It’s all up to me. I have been made aware of Networking and how to use it to my advantage.”

Richard Jones, Mar 15

“Through coaching I found out that I know more than I thought and learned to be more positive about myself, and raise my profile. I got so much more out of these coaching sessions than I ever expected to.”

Amanda Cox, Mar 15

Young people

“Both my sons have benefitted from coaching sessions with Dave. With just one or two sessions Dave was able to help give encouragement guidance and focus to such matters as further education, considering early career options, structuring CV's and interviewing techniques. It was very re-assuring to be able to arrange for an independent person like Dave to provide a structured framework within which to focus on some goals and target setting. Dave has a good rapport with young people. He is very approachable and a good listener. I would not hesitate to recommend him. Five stars from me!"

Feedback from 2014 and before

Career

“I realized that self evaluation is important not just at a point when the job is about to be lost but every now and then to assess if the current job is fulfilling to me on various levels. Losing a job is not the end of the world. It opens up new possibilities to explore different skills and directions.

I will be looking at my job more critically, stay more in touch with the market and my value in it and be more proactive in networking. I will be even more strategic in the years to come to build up my career that becomes my essential next foot print.

I most enjoyed exercises that were lead by you that challenged me to find out my professional preferences, limitations and expectations. I valued that you listened and gave good recommendations and feedback. I wish we had time to go even further and had additional home work to do to explore myself. “

Tomas Tuschek, Oct 14

“ I have discovered that I actually do have a lot of experience and knowledge in my industry. I had a difficult last year ... ... and then being made redundant, made me feel not very confident going into the market place. Working through with Dave has really inspired me to go back into Marketing and has made me believe in myself again. I have started believing in myself again!

I have never been to a coach before so I didn’t really know what to expect, although I knew Dave was good as he had helped a friend of mine who had also been made redundant recently. I think Dave is a very good listener, gives really good advice and insight into all aspects of job coaching, from CV rewriting to interview skills as well as providing invaluable tools to take with you, not only to the next job, but for future career opportunities.”

Aniela Sasimowicz, Sep 14

“I have discovered my value and self-worth and how to position myself strongly when considering applying for roles. I have discovered ways to write a CV to great effect. I have discovered the numerous ways in which to target prospective employers effectively. I will manage my search for employment more efficiently in the future which will monitor if my efforts are being effective or returning results. The coaching process outlined by Dave was very structured but also allowed me to interject at any point to ensure that any issue that I was particularly concerned about was covered. Having to look for new employment options and making vital decisions regarding my future has been made far easier with your assistance and guidance.”

Robert Fewkes, Jun 2014

“I have a renewed sense of what my values are, their relevance for m y working life, and a belief that I have potential which I have not fully explored. Dave has given me frameworks and concepts which I have begun to use to get a sharper focus on the transferable skills I possess and also what new directions I want to consider. I hope to cultivate a more proactive and positive approach to my professional life, both within the role I currently have and whatever future opportunities I create for myself. I already have a sense of how this approach can inform all aspects of my life, not only the professional realm. Dave is hugely motivating; you get the sense that he believes in you. I found this encouragement to be a great asset.”

Jack C, Nov 2013

“I've discovered that my worries about career are not so unusual (lots of people have worries about similar things) and have achieved a way to actively and practically work through these. In the future I will not worry so much and instead be logical and practical, using the tools provided by Dave. I found him to be extremely professional, sensitive, personable and an excellent listener!”

Shadi Fathizadeh, Oct 2013

“I have learnt that I have a wide and varied range of skills that I wasn’t really aware of until I was helped to find/realise them. I feel the coaching sessions have built my confidence and enabled me to sell my skills. I will go into various scenarios including interviews and meetings with a lot more confidence and belief in myself and what I can do. The coaching sessions have shown me new methods of preparation and techniques that I can use to hopefully gain a new job and will also help me in all other parts of my life. I have found both Dave as a person and the coaching sessions/process excellent and inspirational. Each of the sessions have been geared towards my specific needs with all feedback being extremely positive and instructive building confidence and self belief. It has been a pleasure working with Dave and I have learnt so much including things about myself I never knew.

Andrew McCarthy, Aug 2013

I have picked up a framework for assessing my career and satisfaction with it. If I am able to find the time to review from time to time, it will help me measure my performance and career satisfaction and cause me to reflect with parameters. I Really enjoyed working with Dave and genuinely felt a sense of achievement after the coaching sessions. Dave is enthusiastic and carefully considerate whilst obviously experienced. His guidance through various topic areas was well founded and I felt very comfortable being guided by him on these topics.

CH, Jun 2013

“I've discovered more about what is important to me in my life and my career, what my core values are, the things I need to do because they are important and contribute to me being happy and healthy. Through coaching I've learnt new skills and techniques that will help me to be in control, set the right goals, and choose the right actions to achieve those goals.

I will use many of the tools provided to help improve or manage certain aspects of my life. For example, I am keeping the mindsets close to hand as a reference tool. On my lunchtime walks I am trying out some of the meditation exercises. I have updated my CV to ensure I can present myself to prospective employers in the best possible light

In the future I ......can plan better for what I want to achieve, and manage the process to get there in small incremental steps. I recognise that the coaching process cannot provide all of the answers, the answers have to come from within, but the coaching process really does help with the thinking needed to find these answers. “

Daniel Belbeck, Feb 2013

“My values at work are different to what I thought they would be. Most of them are achieved in my current role and I am very clear on the most important one, which has given me focus for the future.

I will have more confidence preparing for interviews and having an up to date CV - this is something I have put off for years and you provided fantastic support and advice which I am sharing with others close to me. I have also taken away valuable tips on building confidence in a new role through the practical exercises we did. It was really useful for the coaching to process to follow a mix of conversations and tangible exercises/information to keep and refer to. It felt like you had a suite of options/resources that I could pick from according to what was the most important to me at that moment - very flexible and up to date.

The process was really tailored to my needs and didn't feel like a process, which was great. You were very objective and non-judgemental, which was very important for me in building a great rapport. Each of our conversations took me to different places and helped bring a variety of thoughts to the surface”

Natalie Ryder, Feb 2013

“I rediscovered my confidence and reminded myself of all the skills and knowledge I have, but which I sometimes take for granted. My goals are now set for both the short term and long term, thus helping me focus on exactly what it is I need to be doing on a daily basis, and to keep sight of my ultimate goal. In my current situation it would be very easy to ‘drift’ in to a long period of unemployment and to let each week go by without achieving something tangible and without really making headway to find the work I want to break in to. Dave Cordle has helped me get myself back ‘on track’ and I have really found it useful to have a professional coach to listen and provide encouragement just when I need it.

I think that I will review my personal situation more often and set myself check points to monitor progress against my goals, something that I have not done before. This should allow me to remain fully focussed over the coming years as I complete my journey towards retirement.

Dave was very easy to work with, good rapport quickly established and always flexible in terms of the agenda and appointments. I just wish that I had known about Dave sooner. It is now obvious to me that what I really needed during the last 18 months was a coach.”

David Coombes, Feb 2013

“I have improved my interviewing and communication skills. I have learnt how to gain confidence when I need it through the special techniques I was taught. In the future I will be using confidence to achieve my goals. I will feel more confident to communicate with people at all levels. I will use my new skills to get a brilliant new job!

I appreciated that my Coach took the initiative when I wasn't sure which way to go. I felt that my Coach understood my needs perfectly and always found a suitable advice, exercise or tip which would help me to deal with an issue. I felt very comfortable with the coaching style and would recommend Dave to my friends and colleagues.”

Julie Swimberska, May 2012

“Thank you so much for your sharing your knowledge and experience with me. Not only do I feel confident in where my career path is now heading but I feel very optimistic with what I can achieve thanks to working with you. In fact our meetings throughout the first 3 months of the secondment without a doubt has had a direct impact on my success and encouraged me in the role, and as a result, opportunities have opened up!

I am so grateful for your help and I wish we had more sessions as I have enjoyed every one and taken so much away. Thank you once again for all of your guidance

JR, Feb 2012

“I am much more confident about looking for a new role, and know my strengths and how to use them. I feel that without the coaching I received, I would be back to square 1 in terms of looking for new employment following my recent redundancy. I have, this morning, been to an agency interview where I was able to confidently and pro-actively apply my communication skills, and am hoping to hear from them very soon.

Leigh Prangnell, Jan 2012 (at end of coaching)

“The coaching made me realise that I had many transferrable skills and that I could turn these towards any avenue that I wanted to go down. I was more confident in looking for a new role due to this and knew how to "sell myself" to potential employers. I have been able to turn my hand to many new roles (as I have been temping) with confidence and a "can do" attitude. I have kept my cv up to date with all new experiences so that this is always to hand if a potential new role is advertised.

Leigh Prangnel, Jul 2012 (6 mths after)

“I discovered that I did not sell my qualities in an assertive manner. I now talk about my skills as a fact rather than saying "I think". I feel more confident in talking about my skills. I have updated my CV as discussed and since doing this have had a lot more contact from agencies who have put me forward for roles. I have now had 3 interviews and although I have not yet secured a role the feedback has been positive.

Dave was a good listener, he gave me the encouragement, confidence and the tools to be in a better position to seek employment. I had a great Interview this week and although I'm awaiting the outcome I feel confident that I did my best. Before spending time with Dave I would not have felt as confident.”

Venessa Oliver, Feb 2012

“Very good - really helped to see myself from a different perspective”

Amanda Tanswell, Feb 2012

“My self belief grew through your coaching knowing I had someone who could advise me what were good ideas on my CV and what could be improved. I will certainly plan differently for future job interviews due to your coaching. I have felt a lot more relaxed because I feel I am more in control of how the interviews might proceed. What I mean by that is because of how I have created my CV in a way it leads the interviewer to ask particular questions from the CV which because I know this I have the answers ready to give them.

Dave you have an easy going outlook that put people at ease when dealing with you. You have a vast amount of knowledge which you share and can explain in a clear way that makes it useful for the person you are giving the advice to. The examples and fact sheets you send through after our meetings help embed the information we have discussed in our meeting and are very useful to refer back to when required.

Richard Cooke, Jan 2012

“I learned the importance of having a plan. Know how to prepare yourself for whatever is coming and be ready for wherever that may lead. I have learnt that the skills I need to succeed are there, they just need to be prepared and ready. The WHO model is something that helps me to focus. If you have the right plan and ensure you hit all three stages then you can give the right impression. It is also the little subtle changes, ensuring that negatives become positives and that asking questions is a good way of deflecting anything negative.

The coaching process exceeded my expectations, I am happy and confident, but needed some direction, this coaching helped me learn which direction to pull in. Dave has helped with all aspects of the recruitment process and made me even more confident, and focused on the job at hand.”

Paul Wright, Jul 2011

“This gave me the opportunity to take a step back and review what I actually wanted in life. Being able to discuss this with Dave gave me a different point of view from family and friends and definitely gave me the push I needed to make a positive change in my life.

I have a new job for a good company in my preferred location. Our house is on the market and my husband has moved to a new role in the new location also. I have learned that in order to achieve your longer term goals you need to take actions, make positive changes and not limit your abilities. I did not expect to get a job at this level but with Dave's help I have achieved this.

The interview techniques were particularly helpful, especially the 'WHO' model.”

Sophie Holmes, Jun 2011 (feedback after 6 months)

“I am already making good progress with understanding where I want to go. I understand it’s more of a two way thing now that I am making myself more marketable in a new area but also I am trying to learn more about the area I want to work in so I know that the next move I make will be the right one.

Also I feel more positive that I can change career by listing out my contributions I can see many of my skills are transferable. I will definitely take more time to build up my network and also seek out network opportunities - I feel I can do that in a professional manner now - also I will reconsider some things I have dismissed in the past.

I feel I have got lots to get on with now to progress and its already helped me with my next move in the voluntary sector”

Lisa Cunningham, Jun 2011

“Since reworking my CV using your suggestions, I found that I was consistently invited to interviews for jobs I applied for and managed to secure a role much quicker than my peers who were in a similar redundancy position.

Using the techniques we discussed, I secured a role relatively quickly in what was a very competitive market. Minimising the amount of time I spent out of work was really important and several interviews made positive comments about the style of CV we’d created. I also used the same principle to rework my Dad’s CV who also found he was invited to interviews more consistently and has also secured a new role for himself!”

Rick Collins, Jun 2011 (Feedback after 6 months)

“I've been able to navigate a restructure at work, and instead of addressing it through blind panic and being unable to focus, the coaching has helped me to break the whole thing down into smaller tasks that are manageable, and that I've been able to achieve. I'm not sure yet what I want to do long term, but I feel much better equipped to start to plan this out.

Dave has been wonderfully encouraging and hugely supportive, and has helped me identify the many positive aspects and behaviours that I do already”

Judith Hurcombe, Apr 2011

“I would highly recommend Dave, he has a wealth of experience and gets you to focus on what's best for you while providing practical guidance and excellent supporting material."

Matthew Glover, Dec 2010

Business

“The Business MOT meeting was made all the more meaningful because there was no perceived time-limit and therefore all my answers to the questions you asked were made in and un-hurried and considered manner.

What I specifically came away with allied to the more general feeling of empowerment, were the ideas that seemed to “appear” in relation to real situations such as communicating existing clients, and opportunities to take further advantage of current projects.”

Peter Lucas, ImaginIT.net, Nov 14

“With what I have learned I will be able to push forward with my own interests and hobby as a business. It has given me lots of ideas in marketing my ideas and how to approach people as customers and look for niches, recognise what people want when selling my products. I have become more aware of methods such as networking and sales.”

Pete Revell, Jul 2013

“Dave Cordle is a master at what he does. He has really helped me focus on what I need to do to achieve my goals. His workshop was excellent: I learned the importance of being specific, motivated, and of taking action each and every day to get what I want. I would recommend Dave’s workshop to anyone wanting to build a brilliant future for themselves - and have fun while they are doing it.”

Tim Haigh, MD Right At Home, May 13

“Coaching gave a great structure for some ideas and thoughts as well as current wishes. This helped to formulate a way forward in terms of where I wanted to go next. Dave was very helpful in giving some insights as well as being a 'sounding board' for some of my unstructured thoughts!

Dave has a really good working style, which is relaxed but helps get results. I really enjoyed the working sessions and would recommend Dave to other colleagues”

AA, Apr 2011

“I had the pleasure to be part of a group that Dave addressed this week at our monthly Director Consultant meeting . Very thought provoking & makes you think about what & how you say things. Learnt a lot , well worth listening to ! Can't recommend Dave highly enough , loved the mouse/ cat story.”

Roger Howes, Mar 2012

Young People

“The students have been positive about this session they particularly liked learning about Linked in and several students commented on the fact that they needed to be more aware of how they can make contacts with people and talk to them about their own jobs and careers to broaden their networks.”

Henrike Wilford, Head of PSHE, Careers and Citizenship, Ricards Lodge High School, Jun 2014

“Comfortably and effortlessly, Dave helped me find more enjoyment and get better results both at school and in the things I do outside of school'

Anna McMillan (studying for Standard Grade, equivalent English GCSE)

Retirement

“I have learned to Create ‘story boards’ to focus on long term goals and achievements. I will try to ensure that semi retirement is fulfilling and to grasp opportunities. Dave was very helpful, friendly and professional, offering good advice to help achieve my goals for the future.”

Thank you so much for your sharing your knowledge and experience with me.

The coaching made me realise that I had many transferrable skills and that I could turn these towards any avenue that I wanted to go down.

“Very good - really helped to see myself from a different perspective”

                                                                                                Amanda Tanswell, Feb 2012

My self belief grew through your coaching knowing I had someone who could advise me what were good ideas on my CV and what could be improved.

“I have learned to Create ‘story boards’ to focus on long term goals and achievements. I will try to ensure that semi retirement is fulfilling and to grasp opportunities. Dave was very helpful, friendly and professional, offering good advice to help achieve my goals for the future.”

                                                                                                Jackie Hawkett, Jan 2012

“Coaching gave a great structure for some ideas and thoughts as well as current wishes. This helped to formulate a way forward in terms of where I wanted to go next. Dave was very helpful in giving some insights as well as being a 'sounding board' for some of my unstructured thoughts!

Dave has a really good working style, which is relaxed but helps get results. I really enjoyed the working sessions and would recommend Dave to other colleagues”

                                                                                                AA, Apr 2011

I would highly recommend Dave, he has a wealth of experience and gets you to focus on what's best for you while providing practical guidance and excellent supporting material."
